LIGHTNING 3, OILERS 2 (SO): Teddy Purcell scored the winner in the sixth round of the shootout and Dwayne Roloson made 34 saves as Tampa Bay defeated visiting Edmonton to end a three-game losing streak.

Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis also converted in the shootout and Roloson stopped three for his first victory since Feb. 16

Tom Pyatt recorded his first career two-goal game for the Lightning, who had lost the last three to Edmonton.

Defenseman Ladislav Smid tied the game for the Oilers with 3:47 remaining in regulation, knocking in a cross-ice pass from rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Roloson, who helped take the Oilers to the Stanley Cup finals in 2006, turned aside all 15 shots in the opening 20 minutes against his former team.

Nikolai Khabibulin, playing his first game in the Tampa Bay Times Forum since winning Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals with the Lightning in 2004, made 19 saves.

Pyatt knocked home a backhand pass from Victor Hedman on the power play to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead 3:24 into the second. Linus Omark tied it at 9:57, redirecting a Ryan Whitney pass. Pyatt tapped in a loose puck at the right post with 1:42 remaining in the second.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stamkos, the league’s leading goal scorer with 50, has been held without a point in a season-high four games. … Khabibulin is the all-time leader in regular-season wins (83) and playoff victories (21) for the Lightning. … Pyatt has a career-high 10 goals and 16 points.
