KINGS 3, FLAMES 0: All-Star Jonathan Quick turned aside 19 shots for his NHL-co-leading ninth shutout and captain Dustin Brown recorded his fifth consecutive 20-goal season as visiting Los Angeles moved into a tie for seventh place in the Western Conference.
Defenseman Willie Mitchell scored, Justin Williams added an empty-net goal and Anze Kopitar notched a pair of assists for the Kings, who snapped a two-game losing skid and pulled even with San Jose. The Sharks were hosting Anaheim later on Wednesday.
Miikka Kiprusoff finished with 27 saves for the Flames, who went 0-for-4 on the power play and fell to 1-3-3 in their last seven contests. Calgary sits three points of out eighth place in the Western Conference with only four games remaining.
Quick matched St. Louis All-Star Brian Elliott for the league lead in shutouts after stopping just four shots in the third period. The blanking was the 23rd of Quick's career.
Mitchell opened the scoring 5:30 into the first period after his point shot beat a screened Kiprusoff. The tally was Mitchell's fifth - and first since Feb. 25.
Brown doubled the advantage 4:22 into the second period. Kopitar's cross-slot feed found Brown, who rifled a shot from the left faceoff circle past Kiprusoff and just inside the far post.
