WILD 4, KINGS 3 (SO): Erik Christensen tied the game midway through the third period and scored the decisive goal in the shootout as Minnesota edged Los Angeles to complete a 2-1-0 homestand.
Darroll Powe and Nick Johnson also tallied in regulation, Jason Zucker and defenseman Justin Falk added two assists apiece and Niklas Backstrom made 26 saves for the Wild, who have won four of five at home.
Los Angeles is tied with Phoenix atop the Pacific Division.
Minnesota knotted the contest for the third time midway through the third when Zucker's shot from the top of the slot deflected off a defender's stick before hitting Christensen's skate and entering the net.
Christensen, who also had an assist, beat Jonathan Bernier to the stick side on the Wild's first shootout attempt. Captain Mikko Koivu lifted a backhander under the crossbar in the second round and Backstrom denied Mike Richards on the Kings' second chance to seal the win.
Powe opened the scoring 40 seconds into the game with his second goal in 32 contests.
Brad Richardson forged a tie at 3:28 as he ended a 25-game goalless drought, but Johnson netted his second tally in 30 matches just 17 seconds later to give the Wild a 2-1 edge.
The Kings moved ahead as captain Dustin Brown converted a power-play opportunity with 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the first and Richardson capped his first multi-goal performance since recording a hat trick on Oct. 23, 2010 only 57 seconds into the second session.
Anze Kopitar collected three assists and Bernier stopped 20 shots for the Kings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Brown has two goals in three contests following an 11-game drought. ... Kopitar has collected seven points in his last three matches and 14 over his last 10 games. ... The Kings completed a 2-1-1 road trip. They have earned at least one point in seven of their last eight meetings with the Wild (4-1-3).
