Defenseman Kris Russell scored 1:32 into overtime to help visiting Calgary snap its two-game losing streak.
Reto Berra made 42 saves in his NHL debut for the Flames, who won at Chicago for the first time since 2008. Curtis Glencross recorded a goal and an assist and Mike Cammalleri also tallied in regulation while T.J. Galiardi failed to convert a penalty shot.
Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist and Marian Hossa also scored for Chicago, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. Corey Crawford stopped 27 shots.
Russell ended the game with a slap shot from the point that eluded Crawford for the blue-liner’s second goal. Hossa sent the contest to overtime with a one-timer from the right faceoff circle during a power play with 4:19 remaining in the third period.
Kane opened the scoring 6:25 into the second, skating a lap around Calgary’s zone and firing a shot through traffic that fooled Berra. Cammalleri tipped a shot by defenseman Dennis Wideman to tie the game 50 seconds later and Glencross beat Crawford with a wrist shot on a rush 2:16 into the third for his third goal in four games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Calgary C Matt Stajan assisted on Glencross’ goal to extend his point streak to five games. … The Flames placed G Joey MacDonald on waivers Saturday before recalling Berra, a former Swiss League star. MacDonald had a .885 save percentage in seven starts. … Kane has 26 points in 23 career games against Calgary. … The Flames were 0-9-1 in their previous 10 visits to Chicago.
