Predators 6, Avalanche 4

Colin Wilson scored his second goal of the game 7:34 into the third period to snap a tie as visiting Nashville prevented Colorado from becoming just the second NHL team to start a season with 13 victories in 14 contests.

Wilson set up a pair of tallies while Craig Smith, Viktor Stalberg, Paul Gaustad and Gabriel Bourque also scored. Defenseman Ryan Ellis notched a pair of assists and Carter Hutton finished with 27 saves for the Predators, who improved to 2-0-1 on their seven-game road trip.

Matt Duchene recorded his team-leading 10th goal and set up a pair of tallies. PA Parenteau added his third goal in two contests versus Nashville this season and Ryan O'Reilly and Paul Stastny also scored for the Avalanche (12-2-0), who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end.

With the game tied at 4-4, Wilson took advantage of a turnover by Parenteau by backhanding the puck past Semyon Varlamov (22 saves) to complete the second four-point performance of his career. Wilson also collected two goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over Edmonton on March 8.

After O'Reilly forged a 2-2 tie at 2:15 of the second period, Gaustad reclaimed Nashville's lead just 59 seconds later by deflecting Filip Forsberg's sharp-angle shot past Varlamov. Wilson doubled the advantage 3:33 afterward before Stastny redirected Jamie McGinn's shot from the upper edge of the right faceoff circle and Duchene split a pair of defenders before shifting from backhand to forehand before beating Hutton.
