Zach Parise scored the tying goal late in regulation before notching the game-winner in the shootout as host Minnesota extended its home winning streak to four games.
Josh Harding made 19 saves in relief of an injured Niklas Backstrom and turned aside both attempts in the shootout as Minnesota improved to 5-0-1 in its last six and halted a three-game skid against Toronto. Jason Pominville also scored in the shootout as the Wild avenged a 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs last month.
Mason Raymond scored a power-play goal and Jonathan Bernier made 33 saves for Toronto, which has scored only three goals during a 1-2-1 stretch. Nazem Kadri had an eventful game for the Leafs, assisting on the first goal after knocking Backstrom out of the game with an elbow to the facemask in the first period before he was ejected in the third period for an illegal check to the head of Mikael Granlund.
The Maple Leafs broke the scoreless deadlock at 7:32 of the middle period when defenseman Jake Gardiner blocked a clearing attempt, leading to a straight-on slap shot from Morgan Rielly. Harding couldn't control the rebound and Raymond batted it home from the doorstep for his third goal in two games against the Wild.
Minnesota tied it with 4:17 left in the third when Charlie Coyle's shot deflected off the skates of Parise and Toronto's Phil Kessel and past Bernier. Parise scored to open the shootout - his 34th goal in the bonus format, tops in the NHL
GAME NOTEBOOK: Backstrom, who was making his first appearance since Oct. 28, took a right elbow to the mask from a cutting Kadri and lay motionless on the ice. He stayed in the game but exited shortly thereafter in favor of Harding, who did not start because he was not feeling well. ... Raymond's goal was his ninth in 28 career games against Minnesota, tops among Toronto players. ... Kessel, Toronto's leading scorer, appeared in his 300th game as a member of the Leafs.
