Jets 2, Lightning 1 (OT)

Mark Scheifele scored 1:04 into overtime and Al Montoya turned aside 28 shots as visiting Winnipeg edged Tampa Bay.

Blake Wheeler netted his 100th career goal in the first period and set up the winner with a pass to the front of the net for Scheifele, who tallied his third of the season. Montoya made 23 saves over the final two periods to post his fourth win of the season as the Jets completed a 4-2-0 road trip.

Nate Thompson scored the lone goal for Tampa Bay with 1.1 seconds left in the second period and Alex Killorn hit the left post just before Scheifele’s tally. Anders Lindback was outstanding in defeat, making 34 saves for the Lightning.

Winnipeg had a 15-5 advantage in shots during the opening period and took a 1-0 lead when Wheeler deflected defenseman Jacob Trouba’s shot past Lindback at 5:25. Lindback kept his team in it with 14 more saves in the second session until the Lightning began to apply more pressure.

Thompson knocked home the tying goal when Radko Gudas centered the puck to him after a faceoff. Montoya made a big right pad save on Nikita Kucherov and Lindback denied Olli Jokinen at the left post with a huge stop in a scoreless third period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The goal was Scheifele's first game-winner in his 42nd career contest. ... Jets RW Michael Frolik was back in the lineup after missing one game with the flu, but LW Evander Kane (lower body) sat out his third straight contest. … Tampa Bay Ds Gudas and Eric Brewer returned to the lineup from injuries in place of Victor Hedman (lower body) and Keith Aulie (fractured hand).
