Blues 6, Oilers 0

Blues 6, Oilers 0:
Chris Stewart recorded his third career hat trick and added an assist while Brian Elliott posted his 23rd career shutout as visiting St. Louis routed Edmonton.

Elliott made 23 saves en route to his second blanking of the season. Patrik Berglund and Jaden Schwartz each had a goal and an assist while Brenden Morrow also scored for the Blues, who improved to 12-2-1 in their last 15 games against the Oilers.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 27 shots for Edmonton, which dropped its sixth straight contest. The Oilers have been blanked three times during their losing streak.

Stewart opened the scoring 11:57 into the contest, capitalizing on a giveaway by Bryzgalov, who was caught out of position. Stewart made it 3-0 with a one-timer from the right faceoff circle 1:46 into the third and added a power-play goal at 7:27 to complete the hat trick.

Morrow finished a crisp passing play with Stewart and Derek Roy by putting a backhander past Bryzgalov 5:50 into the second period. Schwartz fooled Bryzgalov with a wrist shot 2:38 into the third and Berglund scored while short-handed with 7:18 remaining as his slap shot deflected off Bryzgalov’s glove and fluttered into the net.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stewart has scored eight of his 13 goals this season in his last six games. … St. Louis has scored 11 goals in its last two games. … Blues captain David Backes returned to the lineup after missing two games with a concussion.
