Avalanche 3, Jets 2 (OT)
Matt Duchene extended his career-high point streak to eight games by scoring 2:33 into overtime as host Colorado improved to 3-0-1 against Winnipeg this season.
In the extra session, Duchene skated into the left corner before wheeling around Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien on his way toward the net. Winnipeg blue-liner Tobias Enstrom attempted to chip away the puck, but it deflected off Duchene, who backhanded a shot past Al Montoya (31 saves) to end the contest.
John Mitchell collected a goal and an assist, defenseman Andre Benoit also scored and Semyon Varlamov turned aside 33 shots as the Avalanche improved to 8-2 in overtime this season.
Byfuglien scored twice and Bryan Little notched two assists for the Jets, who have dropped four straight games.
Colorado opened the scoring 4:38 into the second period as Mitchell's attempted centering feed caromed off the stick of Winnipeg defenseman Zach Bogosian and into the net. Byfuglien tapped home a loose puck with his team on the power play and banked another shot off Varlamov nearly two minutes later before Benoit knotted the contest with a blast from the point with 12 seconds left in the session.
