Jaromir Jagr registered his 704th career goal, Michael Ryder scored for the first time in more than two months and defenseman Mark Fayne added a short-handed tally for New Jersey, which trails the New York Rangers by five points for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. Adam Henrique and Patrik Elias each collected three assists and Cory Schneider turned aside 20 shots to halt a personal three-game skid as the Devils handed Minnesota its sixth loss in eight games (2-2-4).

Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves for Minnesota, which saw its lead over Phoenix for the first wild card in the Western Conference shrink to four points as it lost for the first time in its last four meetings with New Jersey.
With the Wild trailing 2-0, Parise scored on the power play only 21 seconds into the third as he deflected defenseman Ryan Suter's point shot past Schneider. Jagr answered with the man advantage 3:13 later, burying a no-look backhand pass from Ryane Clowe to move within four goals of tying Mike Gartner for sixth place on the all-time list.
Minnesota charged back with a pair of goals less than five minutes apart as Granlund beat Schneider from a sharp angle before Cooke tipped in defenseman Marco Scandella's point shot to tie it with 4:32 to play. Ryder opened the scoring with 3:02 left in the opening period with a snap shot from the slot before Fayne doubled the lead 9 1/2 minutes into the second, converting from the right faceoff circle after Henrique drew four defenders to him.
