Blue Jackets 3, Flames 2

Matt Calvert registered a goal and an assist as host Columbus shaded Calgary.

Ryan Johansen and Jack Skille added goals while Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves for the Blue Jackets, who wrapped up a 2-1-0 homestand. Mark Letestu added a pair of assists after being held without a point over his first three games.

Mason Raymond scored his fourth goal of the season and Josh Jooris added a third-period tally for the Flames, who fell for the first time in three contests. Karri Ramo turned aside 23 shots in defeat.

Columbus struck twice in a lethargic first period which saw the teams combine for just 14 shots. Skille opened the scoring at 2:59 by one-timing a pass from Letestu from the low slot, and Johansen doubled the lead during a power play less than 2 1/2 minutes later, when he snapped Nick Foligno's feed from the left faceoff circle past Ramo on the blocker side.

Calvert extended the lead at 7:55 of the middle period, pouncing on a loose puck in the crease and banging it past an out-of-position Ramo. Raymond put the Flames on the board 2:21 into the third and Jooris made it interesting with the first goal of his career at 11:43, streaking past a Columbus defender and flipping a forehand shot past Bobrovsky's outstretched glove.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Blue Jackets have yet to surrender a power-play goal, killing off all nine short-handed situations they’ve faced - including four against Calgary. … Linesman Derek Amell took a spill in the third period and banged his head on the ice but remained in the game. … The Flames fell to 3-2-0 on their six-game road trip, which ends Sunday in Winnipeg.
