Devils 2, Jets 1 (SO)

Michael Ryder scored the tying goal late in the third period and Jacob Josefson netted the lone shootout tally as host New Jersey snapped its lengthy losing streak in the bonus format.

After each team failed to convert in the first round of the shootout, Josefson deked Ondrej Pavelec to the ice and lifted the puck into the open net. Cory Schneider, who has started all 10 games for the Devils, denied Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd before Bryan Little shot wide on the Jets' last opportunity, ending the Devils' NHL-record shootout slide at 18 games.

Defenseman Jon Merrill notched an assist for New Jersey, which last won in the bonus format on March 10, 2013 - also against Winnipeg. Schneider turned aside 24 shots as the Devils posted their first home win of the season.

Blake Wheeler scored for the Jets, who are 1-0-1 on their four-game road trip. Blue-liners Tobias Enstrom and Zach Bogosian each recorded an assist while Pavelec made 27 saves.

Winnipeg took the lead less than seven minutes into the contest as Wheeler beat Schneider with a wrist shot at 6:56. The goal stood until late in the third, when Ryder received a pass just above the slot, moved to his backhand to help get around Jets defenseman Mark Stuart in the left faceoff circle and lifted the puck into the top right corner of the net with 3:27 remaining.
