Cam Ward made 25 saves to earn his 22nd career shutout - and first since March 27, 2012 - for the Hurricanes (1-6-2), who are the last team in the league to record their first win. Jiri Tlusty netted a power-play goal to cap the scoring.

Mike Smith stopped 32 shots in a losing effort for Arizona, which fell to 0-4-1 on the road. Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson registered a team-high five shots on goal.

Lindholm tipped defenseman Brett Bellemore’s shot past Smith 3:57 into the game for his first point in eight contests. It took only 13:25 before Lindholm recorded another point, snapping home a loose puck in the slot to give the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead.

Tlusty banged home a rebound with 4:39 remaining in the second period after Smith was caught out of position trying to clear the puck along the side boards. Ward stopped 11 shots in the third period, making difficult saves on point shots by Ekman-Larsson and fellow defenseman Keith Yandle, to preserve the shutout.
