Canadiens 3, Jets 0
Carey Price posted his 26th career shutout as host Montreal won its third straight and halted Winnipeg's eight-game point streak.
Lars Eller and Alex Galchenyuk scored as the Canadiens beat the Jets for the seventh time in eight meetings. Tomas Plekanec added a short-handed, empty-net tally and Price made 12 of his 29 saves in the third period to improve to 12-4-3 lifetime against Winnipeg.
Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 24 shots in dropping to 1-9-0 in his last 10 against Montreal. It was the first regulation loss since Oct. 24 for the Jets, who were 6-0-2 during their eight-game run.
The Canadiens broke the scoreless deadlock 2:21 into the second period. Pavelec denied the initial shot by rookie Jiri Sekac but Eller buried the rebound for the only goal Price would need.
Montreal added an insurance tally less than eight minutes into the third. Plekanec collected the rebound of his own shot and sent a pass to defenseman Tom Gilbert, whose shot from the right point struck Brendan Gallagher in front before Galchenyuk corralled the loose puck and extended his arms to beat Pavelec inside the left post.
