Jets 3, Hurricanes 1
Blake Wheeler scored a pair of goals as visiting Winnipeg halted Carolina's six-game point streak.
Michael Frolik added an empty-net tally and defenseman Mark Stuart collected a pair of assists as the Jets improved to 7-1-2 in their last 10. Rookie Michael Hutchinson, making his third career start, turned aside 22 shots for his second straight win.
Elias Lindholm scored a power-play goal as the Hurricanes lost for the first time in seven games this month (5-1-1). Cam Ward had his five-start winning streak halted despite making 34 saves.
Wheeler staked the Jets to an early lead 5 1/2 minutes into the game, redirecting Stuart's shot from the point past Ward for the only goal of the opening period. Lindholm tied it 3:44 into the second, taking a pass from Nathan Gerbe just below the end line before skating out and jamming home a shot that appeared to deflect off Stuart.
Winnipeg went back in front with 6:58 left in the period as Mark Scheifele sent a pass to defenseman Zach Bogosian, whose right-point shot was tipped in by Wheeler from the doorstep. The Jets maintained the one-goal edge until Frolik provided insurance by scoring into an empty net with 90 seconds remaining.
