Jets 3, Devils 1

Michael Frolik scored a goal and set up another as host Winnipeg avenged a shootout loss at New Jersey last month.

Mathieu Perreault and Mark Scheifele each scored a goal to help the Jets improve to 8-2-3 in their last 13 games. Rookie Michael Hutchinson made 21 saves as Winnipeg prevailed despite going 0-for-5 on the power play.

Patrik Elias scored the lone goal for the Devils in the opener of a four-game road trip. Cory Schneider turned aside 31 shots but permitted at least three goals for the fifth time in seven starts.

Following a scoreless opening period, Winnipeg struck quickly in the second period when Perreault roofed a backhander past a screened Schneider at 1:54. Scheifele doubled the lead 1:46 later, chipping home a rebound of Frolik's shot for his third goal.

The Devils were outshot 23-9 in the first two periods, but they cut the deficit in half on the power play 73 seconds into the third. A cutting Elias uncorked a backhander that eluded Hutchinson, but Frolik restored the two-goal lead by burying a rebound with 3:53 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Schneider tied a franchise record of 19 consecutive starts set by Martin Brodeur to begin the 2001-02 season. ... Perreault, in his first season with Winnipeg, ended a 12-game point drought. ... Devils C Adam Henrique was back in the lineup after sitting out six games but did not register a shot on goal in 17:28.
