Stars 3, Coyotes 1

Defenseman John Klingberg scored his first career NHL goal and Cody Eakin tallied 33 seconds later in the third period as Dallas snapped a seven-game home losing skid (0-5-2).

Jason Spezza also tallied to cap a three-goal third period and Kari Lehtonen finished with 26 saves for the Stars, who also posted a 4-3 victory over Arizona on Nov. 11. Ales Hemsky notched two assists to double his point production for the season.

Lauri Korpikoski scored and Sam Gagner notched his 200th career assist for the Coyotes, who have dropped five of seven (2-4-1). Mike Smith, who entered the NHL with Dallas in 2006, turned aside 24 shots in the loss.

After Klingberg forged a 1-1 tie, Eakin redirected defenseman Trevor Daley's shot past Smith to give Dallas its first lead at 52 seconds of the third. Spezza single-handedly provided insurance nearly 15 minutes later as he used his body to shield Arizona defenseman Keith Yandle while skating behind the net before wiring a sharp-angle shot past Smith.

Gagne's shot from the top of the right circle was denied by Lehtonen, but Korpikoski tapped the puck between his pads to open the scoring with 5:39 remaining in the first period. The slim advantage held up until Klingberg skated into the left circle and snapped a sharp wrist shot over the glove of Smith just 19 seconds into the third.
