Devils 2, Oilers 0

Cory Schneider turned aside 29 shots to earn his second shutout in his last four games as visiting New Jersey defeated Edmonton.

Adam Henrique and Tuomo Ruutu each scored a goal while defenseman Eric Gelinas contributed two assists as the Devils evened their record at 1-1-0 on their four-game trip. Schneider, making his 20th straight start, made 13 saves in the third period to record his 14th career shutout and second this season.

Viktor Fasth made 24 saves for the Oilers, who are winless in their last five games (0-4-1) and have only two victories in 11 contests (2-8-1). Edmonton also lost left wing Benoit Pouliot indefinitely with a broken foot after he blocked a shot in the second period.

Schneider made eight saves in a scoreless first period and the Devils produced 19 shots in the second session to go along with a pair of goals. Henrique took a stretch pass from Steve Bernier, warded off a defender and beat Fasth at 10:39 for his fifth goal of the season.

New Jersey doubled the lead with 4:53 left in the second as Ruutu accepted a pass from Gelinas and hammered a shot past Fasth from the left faceoff circle. The Devils killed off a four-minute double minor to defenseman Marek Zidlicky for high sticking early in the third and Schneider made several big stops late.
