Canucks 3, Penguins 0

Eddie Lack turned aside 21 shots for his fifth career shutout as Vancouver posted its league-best 11th road win.

Brad Richardson scored a pair of goals and set up a tally by Shawn Matthias, who also notched an assist as the Canucks improved to 5-0-1 in their last six. Lack secured his first blanking in his sixth start of the season by stopping eight shots in the final period.

Thomas Greiss, also making his sixth start of the campaign and first at home, made 28 saves but committed a huge gaffe that led to Vancouver's final goal. A pair of turnovers by Pittsburgh defensemen also led to tallies for the Canucks, who halted a string of four straight defeats against the Penguins.

Matthias set up the opening tally 8 1/2 minutes into the contest, taking the puck away from Pittsburgh blue-liner Olli Maatta behind the net and sliding a pass to Richardson in front for a one-timer. Vancouver held Pittsburgh without a shot for the first 12 minutes of the second period and took control with a pair of tallies 2:20 apart.

Richardson did the leg work on the second goal, stripping the puck from Penguins defenseman Simon Despres behind the net and feeding Matthias for an easy conversion at the left post at 11:34. Greiss got caught behind the net and Jannik Hansen took away the puck before slipping a pass to Richardson for a tap-in with 6:06 left in the session.
