Jets 5, Sabres 1

Mark Scheifele recorded two goals and an assist for his second three-point performance in three games as host Winnipeg completed a sweep of the two-game season series.

Michael Frolik and Evander Kane each netted a tally and set up another for the Jets, who posted a 2-1 victory at Buffalo on Nov. 26. Chris Thorburn also scored and Ondrej Pavelec stopped 27 shots as Winnipeg evened its record at 1-1-0 on its four-game homestand.

Defenseman Nikita Zadorov scored the lone goal for the Sabres, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. Michal Neuvirth made 31 saves as Buffalo fell for just the fourth time in 14 contests.

Zadorov gave the Sabres the lead with 44 seconds remaining in the first period with a shot from the left faceoff circle during a power play. But it was all Jets from there as Scheifele beat Neuvirth from the right circle midway through the second and Frolik converted a pass from Jim Slater while short-handed two minutes later for a 2-1 edge.

Scheifele capped his third career two-goal performance - and second against Buffalo - with 5:43 left in the session, beating Neuvirth after receiving a cross-slot feed from Mathieu Perreault during a 2-on-1 rush. Kane made it 4-1 with a power-play tally 71 seconds into the third and Thorburn scored on a backhander with 7:21 left to conclude the onslaught.
