Flames 2, Kings 1 (OT)

Defenseman Dennis Wideman scored at 4:08 of overtime as Calgary improved to 4-0-0 on its five-game road trip.

Play continued for 16 seconds after Wideman's shot from the bottom of the left faceoff circle appeared to ring off the crossbar, but upon video review, it was clear the puck hit the camera inside the net. Sean Monahan scored for the third straight game and Joni Ortio remained perfect on the season by winning his fourth consecutive start.

Blue-liner Matt Greene netted the lone goal for reigning Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles, which went a disappointing 1-2-4 on its seven-game homestand. Jonathan Quick made 21 saves as the Kings lost their eighth in a row in extra time and dropped to 2-12 in games that go beyond regulation.

Greene snapped a scoreless deadlock midway through the third period, unloading a slap shot from the right point that beat a screened Ortio, but a gaffe by Los Angeles defenseman Alec Martinez led to the tying tally 3 1/2 minutes later. Monahan stripped the puck from Martinez at the blue line, skated down the left wing and beat Quick with a wrister with 6:05 to play.

Los Angeles dominated the first two periods, enjoying a 27-9 advantage in shots, but couldn't solve Ortio, who finished with 33 saves. Jeff Carter and captain Dustin Brown had multiple scoring chances for the Kings while Quick flashed his glove to rob Brandon Bollig early in the third period.
