Flames 4, Sabres 1
All-Star Johnny Gaudreau ended a seven-game drought with his third career multi-goal performance as Calgary handed visiting Buffalo its 12th consecutive loss.
Joe Colborne recorded a goal and an assist while Josh Jooris also tallied for the Flames, who posted their fifth win in six games. Jiri Hudler notched a pair of assists and Jonas Hiller made 17 saves to halt a personal three-game slide.
Chris Stewart scored the lone goal for the Sabres, who haven't won since defeating the New York Islanders in a shootout on Dec. 27. Jhonas Enroth turned aside 27 shots as Buffalo suffered its 16th loss in 17 contests.
The Sabres cashed in on a power-play opportunity to open the scoring as Stewart redirected Tyler Ennis' shot from the top of the right faceoff circle at 10:33 of the first period. The Flames answered with a man-advantage tally of their own when Gaudreau chipped the puck past Enroth from the doorstep 3:07 later.
After a scoreless middle session, Jooris gave Calgary the lead 9:05 into the third as he buried a loose puck from the left side of the crease after Colborne's shot from the slot was blocked. Enroth stopped defenseman Raphael Diaz's one-timer from the top of the left circle before Colborne poked in the rebound with 5:54 remaining to double the advantage, and Gaudreau converted a cross-slot pass from Hudler less than 3 1/2 minutes later to seal the win.
