Sabres 3, Stars 2

All-Star Zemgus Girgensons scored one goal and set up another as Buffalo halted its six-game home losing streak.

Defenseman Tyler Myers and Tyler Ennis also tallied as the Sabres won for only the second time in 17 overall games (2-15-0) and posted their first regulation victory at home since Dec. 11. Chris Stewart collected three assists and Jhonas Enroth turned aside 38 shots for the win.

All-Star Tyler Seguin scored on the power play and Cody Eakin added a goal for Dallas, which absorbed its third straight defeat (0-2-1) in the opener of its three-game road trip. Rookie defenseman John Klingberg collected two assists and Anders Lindback made 21 saves in his first appearance since Jan. 15 to fall to 2-8-0 on the season.

The Stars dominated the opening 20 minutes, but Buffalo got the only goal when Myers' shot from the right faceoff circle banked in off Klingberg with 1:43 left in the period. The Sabres doubled the lead during a man advantage 43 seconds into the middle session as Stewart sent a no-look pass from the left post to Ennis for a one-timer.

Another slick feed by Stewart set up Girgensons for an easy conversion into an open net just over five minutes later, but Seguin cut the deficit to 3-1 with 4:37 left in the period. The Stars closed within one when Klingberg set up Eakin midway through the third, but they were unable to get the equalizer despite outshooting Buffalo 9-3 over the final 20 minutes.
