Stars 3, Islanders 2 (OT)
Cody Eakin scored 2:18 into overtime as host Dallas overcame Anders Lee's goal with 1.1 seconds remaining in regulation to snap its six-game winless streak (0-4-2).
With New York pressing for the equalizer, Lee wired a shot from the hash marks near the left-wing boards that caromed off the right skate of Stars defenseman Jordie Benn and inside the right post to forge a 2-2 tie. Islanders blue-liner Thomas Hickey hit the post early in overtime, but Eakin completed a 2-on-1 rush with captain Jamie Benn by sending a one-timer from the right faceoff circle past Jaroslav Halak.
Brett Ritchie and Vernon Fiddler scored five minutes apart in the third period while Eakin also notched an assist for Dallas. Kari Lehtonen finished with 35 saves after being called out by coach Lindy Ruff following a 5-4 shootout loss to Colorado on Friday.
Josh Bailey scored late in the first period for the Metropolitan Division-leading Islanders, who moved one point ahead of the idle New York Rangers despite falling for the fourth time in six games (2-2-2). Halak turned aside 32 shots in the loss.
Stationed behind the end line, Ryan Strome wristed a nifty centering feed that was shoveled home by Bailey with 4:35 remaining in the first period to open the scoring. Ritchie cleaned up a rebound 2:24 into the third and Fiddler converted a bouncing puck that caromed off the glass behind the net at 7:28 to give the Stars a 2-1 lead.
