Oilers 2, Canucks 1 (OT)
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Left winger Lauri Korpikoski scored at 1:27 of three-on-three overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night.
Korpikoski scored after taking a pass from defenseman Andrej Sekera. Canucks goaltender Ryan Miller initially stopped the shot, but the puck squirted through his pads.
Right winger Nail Yakupov, on a power play, also scored for Edmonton. Center Connor McDavid, the first overall pick in this year's draft, had an assist.
Defenseman Matt Bartkowski scored for Vancouver.
The Oilers (2-4-0) claimed their first victory of the season with a 5-2 win over Calgary on Saturday night.
Miller stopped 22 shots while Oilers goalie Anders Nilsson made 33 saves.
The teams exchanged first-period goals but didn't score again until the overtime.
Vancouver left winger Daniel Sedin missed a golden chance to break the 1-1 tie early in the third period.
Center Hendrik Sedin had a breakaway, which a diving Nilsson stopped. Daniel Sedin, who was trailing on the play, collected the rebound and was left with an open net, but flipped the puck over top of the goal.
It took McDavid just 3:23 into the first period to put on a show for the fans in his first regular season visit to Rogers Arena.
With the Oilers on a power play, McDavid used his speed to blow past Canucks right winger Jannik Hansen and take the puck deep into the Vancouver zone. He then sent a cross-ice pass to Yakupov, who fired a bullet from the slot that beat Miller on the glove side.
The Canucks (3-1-2), who outshot Edmonton 13-5 during the period, tied the game at 15:43. Bartkowski's shot from the blue line appeared to hit an Oiler defender and fluttered past Nilsson, who was screened by his own defenseman. It was Bartkowski's first goal in 137 regular-season games.
