Blues 2, Ducks 1

ST. LOUIS -- Rookie defenseman Colton Parayko's goal broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period to give the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night.

Parayko was credited with his fourth goal of the season when his shot from the point hit off the end boards and deflected off the skate of Anaheim goalie Frederik Andersen and into the net at 10:31.

The loss dropped the Ducks to 0-4-1 on their current road trip and left them winless on the road this season at 0-5-2. They are 1-7-2 overall.

The Ducks had a short-lived 1-0 lead in the second period. A holding penalty against St. Louis defenseman Alex Pietrangelo put the Ducks on a power-play 49 seconds into the period, and they capitalized on the man-advantage when defenseman Hampus Lindholm was able to poke the puck through the pads of goalie Jake Allen at 2:33.

It was only the second goal scored by Anaheim in the second period in 10 games this year and just their third power-play goal in 28 chances this season.

The Blues tied the game less than four minutes later. A stretch pass from left winger Steve Ott sprung center Jori Lehtera and right winger Vladimir Tarasenko on a two-on-none breakaway, with Tarasenko getting the goal, his sixth of the season and first in four games.

Tarasenko had to leave the ice later in the second period when he took a hard check from Anaheim center Shawn Horcuff with four minutes to play. Tarasenko was able to skate off the ice but went directly to the locker room and missed the remainder of the period before returning to the ice for the third period.

The Blues have already lost two of their top six forwards to significant injuries this season. Left winger Jaden Schwartz is out for at least three months with a broken ankle, and center Paul Stastny is expected to miss at least five weeks with a broken foot.
