Flyers 4, Blues 2

ST. LOUIS -- Center Claude Giroux scored one goal and assisted on another in a three-goal second period which carried Philadelphia to a 4-2 win over the Blues on Thursday night, the Flyers' first win in St. Louis in almost 10 years.

Left wingers Michael Raffl and Matt Read scored the other goals for the Flyers, who snapped a four-game losing streak with their first win in St. Louis since Dec. 17, 2005.

The win also was the fourth consecutive road victory for the Flyers, their longest road winning streak since a five-game streak in 2011.

The Flyers were shut out in their previous two games in St. Louis, but guaranteed that wouldn't happen again when Raffl deflected a pass from right winger Brayden Schenn 3:15 into the second period. It was Philadelphia's first goal in St. Louis since Oct. 9, 2010.

The goal tied the game at 1 after Blues center Robby Fabbri scored his fifth of the season 1:35 into the second. The Flyers took the lead 3:24 after the equalizer when Read got to a loose puck as he was falling to the ice and tipped it past the outstretched glove of goalie Brian Elliott, who was starting a home game for the first time since Oct. 24.

Giroux capped the big period with his 11th goal of the year with 1:54 to go, making it 3-1. He skated around St. Louis left winger Magnus Paajarvi and backhanding the puck past Elliott, who gave up the three goals on 12 shots in the period.

It was Giroux's first goal in nine career games against the Blues and gave him at least one goal against every team he has played in his NHL career.

The Blues cut the lead to 3-2 on a power-play from center David Backes 7:37 into the third period but fell short in their attempt to win consecutive games for the first time in a month.

The Flyers added an empty-net goal by center Ryan White with two seconds to play to cap the scoring.
