Rangers 4, Oilers 2

NEW YORK -- Left winger Rick Nash scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period as the New York Rangers snapped the Edmonton Oilers' six-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

The Oilers had three power-play chances to tie the game in the third period but failed to convert.

Rangers right winger Jesper Fast sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 3.2 seconds remaining.

The Rangers exacted a measure of revenge after losing 7-5 to the Oilers in Edmonton on Friday.

Right winger Mats Zuccarello and defenseman Dylan McIlrath scored for the Rangers. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 18 shots.

Left winger Taylor Hall and right winger Jordan Eberle had the Oilers' goals. Goaltender Anders Nilsson turned aside 17 shots.

Zuccarello's 14th goal of the season gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead at 5:04 of the first period. Defenseman Keith Yandle slipped the puck to Zuccarello, who snapped a shot from the left face-off circle that beat Nilsson high to the glove side.

The Oilers evened the score at 1 at 5:12 of the second period. Hall's 15th of the season was a power-play goal, a quick shot to the far side from the left wing after a great cross-ice pass from center Leon Draisaitl.

McIlrath responded 2:42 later with his first career goal. Yandle again set up the goal, this time with a pass along the blue line that McIralth hammered to put the Rangers ahead 2-1.

Eberle's breakaway goal with 1:40 remaining in the period made it 2-2. Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei turned over the puck in the neutral zone, which allowed center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to spring Eberle for his ninth goal of the season.

The tie was short-lived, as Nash scored a power-play goal 1:01 later give the Rangers a 3-2 lead. The Oilers were whistled for a too-many-men infraction and Nash took advantage by powering his way to the front of the net for his 10th goal of the season.
