Lightning 3, Canucks 2 (OT)
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Right winger Nikita Kucherov scored on a breakaway in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
Canucks center Henrik Sedin got caught in a line change, allowing Kucherov to take a pass from defenseman Vladislav Namestnikov and beat Vancouver goaltender Jacob Markstrom with low shot with 1:09 left in overtime.
Centers Valtteri Filppula and Alex Killorn also scored for the Lightning (21-17-44).
Center Bo Horvat, who had an assist, forced overtime with a goal late in the third period. Left winger Sven Baertschi scored on the power play for Vancouver (16-16-10).
Horvat has five points (4-1) in three games. Baertschi has seven points, including five goals, in his last seven games.
Markstrom, making his career-high seventh consecutive start, had 32 saves. Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 21 shots.
Filppula gave Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead at 12:20 of the third period. His shot from the faceoff circle hit the toe of Canucks defenseman Alex Edler and deflected through Markstrom's legs. The goal came just as Vancouver defenseman Yannick Weber returned to the ice after serving a cross-checking penalty.
Horvat tied the score with 2:50 left. Defensemen Ben Hutton carried the puck up the ice, then dished it off to Horvat, who beat Vasilevskiy with a shot that went under his blocker.
The Lightning outshot Vancouver 17-5 in third period.
The second period was scoreless. Tampa Bay was awarded an early four-minute power-play after Edler was called for high-sticking but couldn't manage a goal.
A couple of individual plays resulted the teams being tied 1-1 after the first period.
Killorn scored Tampa Bay's first goal at 3:41. He picked up the puck along the boards, outmuscled two Canucks defensemen and slid a pass to Kucherov. He returned the puck to Killorn, who swooped to the net, waited for Markstrom to go down and then scored on the short side for his seventh goal of the season.
Baertschi tied the score at 15:24 after Killorn had been sent off for hooking. Horvat made a pretty play to turn Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman inside out, then passed to Baertschi, who tipped the puck in past Vasilevskiy.
