Jets 2, Blues 1 (SO)
ST. LOUIS -- Center Mark Scheifele scored in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Winnipeg Jets a 2-1 win Tuesday night over the St. Louis Blues.
The Jets improved to 4-0-1 in their last five road games with their first shootout win in three games this season.
Scheifele's goal came after Blues' goalie Brian Elliott stopped the first three Winnipeg shootout attempts from right winger Blake Wheeler, left winger Andrew Ladd and center Bryan Little.
Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck shut out the Blues in the shootout, stopping shots from center Alexander Steen, right winger Vladimir Tarasenko, center Jori Lehtera and right winger Troy Brouwer.
Both teams had a power-play chance to try to break the tie early in the third period but could not score. The Jets were 0-of-5 on the power play in the game.
The Jets also had a near miss midway through the period when a shot by defenseman Tyler Myers deflected off Ladd and went off the crossbar behind Elliott.
After a scoreless first period, the two teams traded goals early in the second period. Just 15 seconds into the period, Elliott could not control a fluttering shot from Jets' defenseman Dustin Byfuglien and Little was able to knock the rebound into the net for his 16th goal of the season.
After the Blues went on the power play when defenseman Ben Chiarot was called for delay of game, defenseman Colton Parayko tied the game at 2:27 of the period, firing a slap shot past Hellebuyck.
The goal was the seventh of the season for Parayko but his first since Dec. 19.
