Blue Jackets 4, Ducks 3 (SO)

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Right winger Cam Atkinson and center Alexander Wennberg scored shootout goals, and the Columbus Blue Jackets came back from a 3-1 deficit early in the third period to beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 on Thursday in Nationwide Arena.

Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, who had 24 saves, stopped Anaheim right wingers Jakob Silfverberg and Corey Perry in the shootout to clinch the win.

Columbus is 5-1-2 in its last eight games.

The Blue Jackets' goals were scored by left winger Brandon Saad, center Brandon Dubinsky and center William Karlsson, who was traded to Columbus by the Ducks late last season.

The Ducks -- three games deep on a season-long, seven-game road trip -- got goals from left winger David Perron, fourth-line right winger Mike Santorelli and center Ryan Garbutt, while center Ryan Getzlaf had two assists.

Anaheim goaltender Frederik Andersen finished with 31 saves.

The Ducks took a 1-0 lead at 4:47 of the first period, with Perron finishing a dizzying sequence of passes with Getzlaf and right winger Chris Stewart.

Stewart, from the high slot, found Perron low as he skated in alone from the left circle and beat Korpisalo around his left pad.

The Blue Jackets let several golden scoring chances pass, and Andersen made some dramatic saves under pressure. But they couldn't finish.

At first, the Ducks goal in the dying seconds of the second period felt like a back-breaker for the Blue Jackets.

Getzlaf set up Santorelli for a one-timer from the left dot to make it 2-0 w 11.7 seconds remaining for a 2-0 lead.

But just seconds after the ensuing faceoff -- with 4.3 seconds remaining, to be exact -- Karlsson and Foligno pulled off a nifty give-and-go, with Karlsson finishing from the doorstep to make it 2-1.

The Ducks pushed the lead to 3-1 at 1:45 of the third, when Garbutt scored on a tight-angle shot from below the right circle. The sailed over Korpisalo's left shoulder and rattled around the net.

The Blue Jackets pulled back to within a one-goal market less than five minutes later.

Skating hard to the net, Saad was rewarded by a rebound left by Anderson off a shot by Blue Jackets center Alexander Wennberg at 6:03. It was Saad's 20th goal of the season.

The Blue Jackets pulled even with 5:03 remaining, when Dubinsky scored a power-play goal off a sweet set-up by Foligno. Dubinsky's first shot was stopped by Andersen's pad, but he lifted the follow-up into the net.

Columbus had a 4-on-3 power play for the final 1:18 of overtime, but couldn't convert.

NOTES: The Blue Jackets announced shortly before the opening faceoff that D Ryan Murray signed a two-year contract extension to avoid restricted free agency this summer.
