Blues 4, Senators 3 (SO)

OTTAWA -- Patrik Berglund scored in the 11th round of a shootout to give the St. Louis Blues a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night at Canadian Tire Centre.

Two goals in the final 2:41 of the third period by center Jean-Gabriel Pageau completed a dramatic comeback for the Senators, who trailed 3-0 just past the midway point of the game.

Pageau's second goal came during a wild scramble with less than a second left in regulation.

Along with being perfect in the shootout, Blues goalie Jake Allen made 40 saves for his 20th win of the season.

The Blues were led by winger Jaden Schwartz’s goal and two assists. Also scoring for St. Louis were wingers Dmitrij Jaskin and Vladimir Tarasenko.

Winger Ryan Dzingel had the other Ottawa goal.

Senators goalie Craig Anderson left the game late in the second period with a lower-body injury. Through 33:41, he stopped 29 of 31 shots.

Anderson was replaced by Andrew Hammond, who stopped all 17 shots he faced, including a couple of breakaways.

Pageau scored his first goal with 2:41 left in regulation on the clock when he squeezed in high shot from the goal line between Allen and the post.

Hammond was pulled for an extra attacker with 2:10 left and Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangleo was called for a tripping penalty with 1:47 remaining, setting the stage for Pageau to fire home the equalizer just as the period-ending buzzer was ready to sound.

The teams exchanged goals in a second period that had the Senators lead 18-14 in shots.

On the power play, Tarasenko stepped out from the right-wing corner and circled near the faceoff circle before firing a shot that beat Anderson high at 10:38. The goal was Tarasenko's 30th of the season.

Dzingel broke through for Ottawa's first goal at 12:32 when a point shot by defenseman Dion Phaneuf hit something in front and came his way. Dzingel deposited the puck in the empty net for his second NHL goal.

Anderson left the game with 6:19 to go in the second period after he appeared to twist something during a scramble around his net. After staying down for a few moments, he appeared to test a part of his lower body before skating to the dressing room.

The Blues led 2-0 after a first period that saw them outshoot the Senators 19-10.

Jaskin opened the scoring at 3:36 of the first period when a point shot by defensemen Alex Pietrangelo hit a crowd that included Schwartz and fell his way. Jaskin had the upper part of the net to shoot at while scoring his fourth goal of the season.

Schwartz made it 2-0 on a power play at 12:53 when another point shot failed to make it through to the net. He calmly flicked a shot past Anderson on the stick side for his fifth goal of the season.

NOTES: Senators LW Matt Puempel was summoned to Ottawa from the AHL affiliate in Binghamton for the fourth time of his career after the team traded LW Shane Prince and shut down C Kyle Turris, who has a high ankle sprain. Puempel entered his 15th NHL game this season with one goal and one assist. ... Senators D Patrick Wiercioch survived the trade deadline because GM Bryan Murray couldn't get what he thought was an acceptable return. Wiercioch was a healthy scratch for the fourth game in a row and the sixth time in the last 10. ... Blues C Jori Lehtera missed his third game with an upper-body injury, although he was also listed as a scratch, which suggests he's close to returning. ... Blues D Robert Bortuzzo was a scratch for the second consecutive game and ninth time in the last 18.
