Gostisbehere, Flyers dump Canucks

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Flyers scored two power-play goals, Shayne Gostisbehere had three assists, and Philadelphia defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 Sunday night.

Wayne Simmonds, Jakub Voracek and Brayden Schenn scored for Philadelphia (28-24-7). The win snapped a two-game losing streak and was the Flyers' second victory in six games. Philadelphia is two points behind the last Eastern Conference wild-card playoff position.

Markus Granlund and Jannik Hansen scored for Vancouver (26-28-6). The Canucks have three wins in their past 11 games and remain four points out of the final wild-card playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Canucks goaltender Ryan Miller stopped 25 shots. Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth made 18 saves.

The Canucks were playing their second game in 24 hours after defeating the Calgary Flames 2-1 in overtime Saturday night. The Flyers last played Thursday in a 6-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Flyers scored goals 1:27 apart early in the second period, but the Canucks battled back with two to make the score 3-2 heading into the third period.

Philadelphia went ahead 2-0 after Gostisbehere's long pass from behind his own net set up a two-on-one breakaway. Sean Couturier picked the puck off the boards and skated in on Miller. He took a shot that Miller stopped, but Voracek picked up the rebound and put it into an empty net at 1:11 for his first goal in 10 games.

Schenn made it 3-0 at 2:38 with his league-leading 14th power-play goal. He took Gostisbehere's pass and fired a shot that Miller had trouble seeing because of Simmonds' screen.

Granlund got Vancouver's first goal at 3:43. He managed to deflect a shot from Daniel Sedin past Neuvirth even as he was being checked to the ice.

Hansen made it 3-2 at 12:42 after Bo Horvat passed the puck out from behind the Flyers' net. Hansen's shot from the slot sailed over Neuvirth's glove.

Simmonds scored the only goal of the first period.

With Alex Burrows off for hooking, Gostisbehere took a shot from the faceoff circle. Miller made the stop, but Simmonds was there to jab in the rebound at 5:35. It was his fourth goal in five games.
