Canucks' Sedin gets OT winner vs. Blues
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Center Henrik Sedin scored at 1:40 of overtime to give the Vancouver Canucks a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night.
Henrik Sedin took a pass at the side of the net from left winger Daniel Sedin and shot it past Blues’ goaltender Jake Allen for the Canucks third consecutive win of the season.
Vancouver center Bo Horvat had tied the game with 2:55 left in the third period.
It was the third time this year the Canucks had battled back from a deficit to win a game.
Right winger Vladimir Tarasenko scored for the Blues.
Goaltender Jacob Markstrom stopped 23 shots as the Canucks improved to 3-0-0.
Blues goalie Jake Allen made 24 saves the Blues (3-1-0) lost for the first time this year.
Horvat's goal came after defenseman Erik Gubranson fired a shot from the point. Allen made the save but Horvat tucked in the rebound for his second goal of the season.
Dating back to last year, it was the first time Vancouver had scored on St. Louis in 177 minutes, 34 seconds.
Tarasenko scored at 10:23 of the second period.
Left winger Alexander Steen started the play in the Canucks' zone, hitting Tarasenko with a long pass that set up a partial breakaway. Tarasenko scored on a shot from just above the faceoff dot that handcuffed Markstrom on the short side.
Tarasenko has four goals and six points in four games.
The goal came just seconds after Allen stoned Canuck center Henrik Sedin twice, blocking his first shot then stopping the rebound.
It was the third time this year the Canucks gave up the game's first goal. It also was the third time Vancouver trailed heading into the third period.
Vancouver outshot St. Louis 7-4 in a scoreless first period.
The Canucks thought they had taken the lead when defenseman Luca Sbisa put a puck past Allen with 6:10 remaining. After a review it was ruled Sbisa had kicked the puck into the net.
