Giroux nets OT winner as Flyers edge Sens

OTTAWA -- Claude Giroux scored his second goal of the game 40 seconds into overtime to give the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.

Winger Jakub Voracek set up winner, fending off a check and sending a pass through the slot to Giroux, who one-timed a shot behind Senators goalie Mike Condon.

Defenseman Michael Del Zotto had the other goal for the Flyers, who trailed 2-0 late in the second period.

Wingers Mike Hoffman and Ryan Dzingel scored for the Senators.

Condon made 29 saves while Flyers goalie Steve Mason stopped 19 shots.

The Senators had to play about half the game with five defenseman as Fredrik Claesson left after just four shifts in the second period.

The Flyers erased a 2-0 deficit with goals one minute apart late in the second, sending the teams into the final 20 minutes deadlocked.

Hoffman started the scoring with his fourth goal in two games, taking a pass from winger Mark Stone that gave him half an open net. The goal, which came on a Senators power play at 8:23 of the first, was Hoffman's eighth of the season.

The Senators increased the lead 1:57 into the middle period when Dzingel used his stick to knock down a point shot by defenseman Dion Phaneuf and then, with the puck bouncing, tipped it over Mason's left shoulder. It was Dzingel's sixth of the season.

Giroux finally solved Condon on an odd-man rush at 16:50 of the second, taking a shot from the right wing face-off circle that snuck between the goalie's pads. The goal was the sixth of the season for the Flyers captain.

Del Zotto's third of the season, a wrist shot from the point that deflected off a Senators player and changed directions, tied the game at 17:50.
