Red Wings beat Islanders on DeKeyser's overtime goal

NEW YORK -- Danny DeKeyser scored 1:02 into overtime Sunday night as the Detroit Red Wings edged the New York Islanders 4-3 at Barclays Center.

Tomas Tatar streaked down the right side of the ice before passing to DeKeyser, who fired a shot over the glove of Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak to give the Red Wings (12-11-3) their fourth win in the last seven games (4-1-2).

Mike Green scored twice -- and had a third goal, a potential go-ahead tally in the third period, overturned due to goalie interference on teammate Luke Glendening -- and Henrik Zetterberg added a goal for the Red Wings, who moved within two points of a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Goalie Petr Mrazek made 32 saves.

Anders Lee, Johnny Boychuk and Josh Bailey scored for the Islanders (9-10-5), who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Halak recorded 31 saves.

The Islanders took the lead just 5:16 into the first on Lee's sixth goal of the season. Cal Clutterbuck set up the score by dragging the puck parallel to the Red Wings' net to draw the attention of Mrazek. With Mrazek committed to his right, Clutterbuck then passed behind him to an open Lee, who fired the puck into the vacant left corner of the net.

Ex-Islanders center Frans Nielsen generated the tying goal for the Red Wings a little less than eight minutes later. Nielsen picked up a puck along the right side of the ice in the Detroit zone and skated along the benches before passing to Green, whose shot from one knee sailed past Halak with 7:07 remaining.

Another ex-Islanders player, left winger Thomas Vanek, created Green's go-ahead goal with 5:20 left in the second. Vanek picked off a pass behind the New York net by Dennis Seidenberg and immediately passed to Green, who fired a shot over Halak's glove.
