Canucks 5, Wild 2
Captain Henrik Sedin scored and twin brother Daniel added a 5-on-3 tally as the Vancouver Canucks breezed to a 5-2 road triumph over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
Maxim Lapierre, Ryan Kesler and Manny Malhotra also tallied and Cory Schneider turned aside 22 shots for Northwest Division-leading Vancouver, which collected its league-best 19th road victory.
Although seen in a walking boot on Wednesday, Henrik Sedin extended his consecutive games streak to 553 by taking the ice against the Wild. He showed no signs of an ankle injury when he finished off a 2-on-1 rush with Byron Bitz to net his 12th goal of the season just 50 seconds into the second period. The tally gave the Canucks a 3-1 advantage.
Dany Heatley ignited the Wild by scoring his team-leading 18th goal of the campaign just 13 seconds into the contest. Although it scored the fastest goal in franchise history, Minnesota mustered little else and fell for the fourth time in five games.
Schneider turned aside his next 20 shots before Devin Setoguchi netted a power-play goal with 4:02 left. Schneider stood tall to improve to 8-3-0 on the road this season and 5-2-0 in his career versus the Wild.
Niklas Backstrom, who stopped 15 shots, suffered his third loss this season to Vancouver and fell to 11-12-6 in his career versus the Canucks.
