Charl Schwartzel has been one of the most consistent players in the world over the past two years but he looked like a weekend hacker as he took four putts on the 18th hole at the TPC of Boston on Sunday at the Deutsche Bank.

Golfers understand that they will have ups and downs along the way and on Sunday at the Deutsche Bank at the TPC Boston Charl had one of the downs.

Charl is a very deliberate player and normally remains relatively calm throughout his round.

He was not having a particularly stellar round on Sunday but was still projected to be inside the top-70 in the FedEx Cup standings.  Schwartzel would remain eligible to proceed to the next step in the FedEx Cup Playoffs at the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick just outside of Indianapolis.

He may have putted himself out of the playoffs with a very untimely four-putt on the 18th green on Sunday at the Deutsche Bank that could prove to be very costly.

Charl found himself with a four foot putt for birdie on the par-5 18th green.   His birdie putt struck a bit too firmly rolled around the edge and left him with a three foot putt for par. 

He again lipped out his par putt and then in a pique of frustration tried to backhand the bogey putt into the hole.  The result was the same however, and he finally tapped in for a four-putt double bogey which gave him an eight-over par 79 for the day and moved him to No. 71 on the FedEx Cup Rankings.

It was a very unusual show of frustration from the South African.  As his buddy Louis Oosthuizen opened up a three shot lead heading into the final round on Monday, Schwartzel must post a good number to play his way back into the top-70 and stay in the hunt for the FedEx Cup.
