Back9Network, golf’s newest lifestyle and entertainment television network, has been trying to bring their programming to cable television, but has run into a roadblock with the large cable providers in the United States.
Back 9 Network just announced a new agreement with DIRECT TV to air their original programs on the satellite television network.
The multi-year deal with DIRECT TV marks the first television carriage agreement for Back9Network, which will air nearly 1,100 hours of original programming in the first year. The broadcast will begin on September 29, 2014 and will air on DIRECT TV’s Channel 262.
Back9Network CEO, James Bosworth said,
“We are thrilled that DIRECT TV will be Back9Network’s first television launch partner. This long-term agreement provides us with a strong initial television distribution base and sends a clear message to the marketplace of our goal of becoming a fully-distributed lifestyle network.”
Carlos Silva, President of Back9Network added,
“We look forward to broadcasting from our state-of-the-art studios in downtown Hartford, developing studio shows and primetime programming that resonate with the 25 million active golfers and the tens of millions more that live the golf lifestyle and enjoy what golf has to offer outside the ropes and in the clubhouse.”
Since 2010, Back 9 Network has been available at their website, www.back9network.com.
Ahmad Rashad joined the Back9Network staff and has been producing the 30-minute, “Ahmad Rashad Show.” He gives viewers a behind the scenes glimpse at some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment.
Other original programming includes “Ball Hogs,” which explores the murky world of diving for “white gold,” wayward golf balls that have found a watery grave.
“Golf Treasures” will feature the owners of Green Jacket Auctions traveling the globe tracking down the world’s rarest and most sought-after golf artifacts.
The channel will also produce features on clothing, style, off-the-golf-course entertainment and golf news.
Additional programming is currently in production and will be aired on the Back9Network’s DIRECT TV channel 262 beginning in September.
