The final stage of PGA Q-School will be held this week beginning on Tuesday, November 28th, and will finish on Monday, December 3rd.
172 hopeful golfers will compete over 108 holes on the TPC Stadium Course and the Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West in La Quinta, California.
Every drive, iron, chip and putt can determine a player’s fate. The pressure on the players is immense. The rewards of earning a PGA Tour card versus toiling for another year on the Web.com are gigantic.
Only 25 players will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2013 season. 25 golfers have already earned tour cards for next year via the Web.com Tour.
This will be the final year for the PGA Tour Q-School as we have known it. Six rounds of grueling, grinding, and gnashing of teeth for golfers trying to make it onto the big show.
Next year players will only be able to qualify for the PGA Tour via the Web.com Tour.
The new qualifiers at this year’s Q-School will have fewer events in which to earn their cards for 2014 as the new wrap-around scheduling starts after the FedEx Cup Playoffs are complete in September.
The Golf Channel will not be airing the final 54 holes of Q-School as they have done in the past. Golf Channel anchors, experts, and reporters will be onsite at PGA West and the Golf Channel will provide condensed daily coverage focusing on the stories and unique personalities involved in the finals.
There will be a special two hour program on Monday, December 3rd from 8-10 PM EST after Q-School is complete and the 25 players have earned their 2013 PGA Tour Cards.
