Presidents Cup Comes To Muirfield Village

Muirfield Village is the course that Jack built and annually hosts the Memorial Tournament in June. It will also host the tenth edition of the Presidents Cup.

Jack Nicklaus has a fairly close relationship to the PGA Tour and it should come as no surprise that the Presidents Cup has come to Muirfield Village.

Nicklaus was the captain for four of the nine previous American Presidents Cup teams.

Muirfield Village will be the only course to have hosted a Ryder Cup (1987), a Solheim Cup (1998) and now a Presidents Cup.
Muirfield Village has also hosted two major USGA events, the 1992 U.S. Amateur and the 1986 U.S. Jr. Amateur.

The only thing lacking from Muirfield Village’s resume’ is a major championship. Evidently the USGA and Nicklaus could not come to terms for a U.S. Open to be held here.

The 1986 U.S. Jr. Amateur and the 1992 U.S. Amateur were held at Muirfield Village. That normally signals a U.S. Open will be hosted by that course in the future.

It has not happened as of yet, but don’t be surprised if Muirfield Village is awarded a PGA Championship at some point in the future.

The PGA Tour has also announced that the 2015 Presidents Cup will be held at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea outside of Incheon City, South Korea.

Because of Jack Nicklaus, Muirfield Village has developed a well-deserved reputation as one of the best golf courses in the world.
Ryder Cups, Solheim Cups and Presidents Cups are nice, but Jack Nicklaus wants it to host a major championship someday.
