Head to Head:

Mano y Mano, your team versus the other team with the higher scoring team taking the winnings.

50/50’s:

In a 50/50 game the top 50% of the player pool doubles their buy in to the contest.

Leagues:

League games have various amounts of players in them ranging from three, five, ten or even more with the contest payouts varying from game to game.

Tournaments:

The tournament games are large field, and sometimes multiple entry, games that offer the biggest payouts ranging in the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars for a minimal investment.

Once you have signed up for a nightly contest you will be presented with a screen to build your daily fantasy basketball team based on FanDuel’s salary cap guidelines. You will have $60,000 dollars to build your team with each player being given a salary for the night based on who they are and their recent fantasy production. In building a team you will need to choose two players from the point guard, shooting guard, small forward and power forward position with the final piece of your team being one player chosen as your center for the night. You may not spend over the $60,000 salary cap limit but there is no bonus, or penalty, for having salary cap dollars remaining after building your team. Part of the fun in daily fantasy basketball is tweaking and twisting your lineup based on news throughout the day to maximize your possible points scored. The lineup locks, allowing no more changes, when the first basketball game tips off, most nights this is 7pm EST, and your players are then scored on the following stat categories:

• 3-pt FG = 3 points
• 2-pt FG = 2 points
• FT = 1 point
• Rebound = 1.2 points
• Assist = 1.5 points
• Block = 2 points
• Steal = 2 points
• Turnover = -1 point

Each individual players points are then added up contributing to your daily fantasy basketball teams total fantasy points scored. 5 Things to Never Forget Before Setting Your Lineups in Daily Fantasy Basketball Money Leagues

As you are building your daily fantasy basketball lineups over at FanDuel.com the player pool, and your team, continues changing by the night. Although this may be the most exciting thing about all daily fantasy sports, there are still some rules that must not be broken in order to achieve a successful lineup. Those five rules are as follows.

Check the News

Life happens. The NBA season is a long and grueling affair that causes players to occasionally miss games, sometimes for the smallest of reasons. Just because a player is healthy does not mean that something as silly as a stomach bug will not cause him to miss that night’s game. Pay attention to news on social media, Twitter is best, to make sure you are not caught unaware.

Study the Entire Player Pool

Just because you have your eyes set on two players at a certain position for the night is no reason to not observe and study the entire player pool. It is good to be well versed in your options at each position as daily news will alter and tweak your lineup in order to maximize your value per dollar spent. Scroll down to the bottom of each position then analyze each player name on that list, their daily fantasy basketball relevancy, and their fantasy point value per dollar spent. No one likes to miss out on a sale and you do not want to miss a player that is available at a discount for the night.

Know Your Expected Return on Investment

With each player having a different salary they must achieve very different results in order to have achieved value for their price that evening. The simple equation of (4X + 7) will give you your expected return on a players total fantasy points, with X being that player’s salary for the night. For example: If Kobe Bryant was priced at $8,200 on FanDuel you would use the number 8.2 in your salary equation. This would give you 4 times 8.2 plus 7, which equals 39.8, the amount of fantasy points scored Bryant would need that night to achieve value for his price.

Scoring Format Changes Everything

FanDuel.com does not count missed shots against a players total fantasy points making high volume shooters a valuable commodity for your daily fantasy basketball team. When you do not have to account into your final score the fact that Carmelo Anthony will likely miss 20 shots a night it gives him tremendous upside if his shot happens to catch fire that evening.
