Bobcats at Wizards

THE STORY:
The Charlotte Bobcats still need one more victory to avoid recording the worst winning percentage in NBA history when they visit the Washington Wizards on Monday. Charlotte lost its 20th straight game Sunday when it was routed by the Sacramento Kings. Going winless over the final three games of the regular season would leave the Bobcats with a .106 percentage, eclipsing the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers (.110) for the worst mark. Washington is 3-0 against Charlotte this season.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS (7-56):
The 114-88 drubbing suffered at the hands of the woeful Kings was very disappointing as the home tilt against Sacramento was viewed as Charlotte’s best chance at ending its skid prior to the end of the season. After playing Washington, the Bobcats conclude the season with a road game at the Orlando Magic and a home contest with the New York Knicks. Charlotte has lost by 20 or more points nine times during its franchise-worst losing skid. “The biggest thing now is having some pride as men, not so much as basketball players,” forward Tyrus Thomas said. “We’ve got to fight it out every second until the horn blows.”

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (17-46): A victory would give Washington its first four-game winning streak since early in the 2007-08 season. The Wizards notched an 86-84 road win over the Miami Heat on Saturday, recording the winning points on Nene’s dunk with less than a second remaining. Washington also defeated the Chicago Bulls during the three-game streak that matches its longest since April, 2008. Nene averaged 12.5 points over the last two games after missing the previous 10 with a foot injury. He has played in just eight games for the Wizards since being acquired from the Denver Nuggets.

BUZZER BEATERS:

1. Washington routed Charlotte 113-85 on April 9 for its fourth consecutive victory over the Bobcats.

2. Wizards guard Cartier Martin had a season-best 22 points off the bench in the upset of Miami.

3. Bobcats guard Kemba Walker had 13 points and 11 assists against Sacramento for his second career double-double.
