Mavericks 93, Trail Blazers 82

Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points, and Tyson Chandler broke out with a playoff career-high 20 rebounds and 14 points as the Dallas Mavericks routed the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 93-82 on Monday in Game 5 of their first-round series.

Jason Terry added 20 points for the Mavericks, who took a 3-2 lead and will try to close out the series Thursday night in Portland. They are 2-18 in their last 20 road playoff games.

Dallas, which blew a 23-point lead in Saturday's Game 4, put pressure on Portland throughout the second half and never allowed the Blazers to get into any rhythm. The Mavericks led by 22 points with 4:34 left.

Portland missed 18 consecutive shots at one point but finished with a higher field goal percentage - 43.2 to 41.0. Dallas made 26 free throws to Portland's 14.

Chandler, who had been in foul trouble in the first four games and had only 16 points total entering Game 5, made all three of his field goals and was 8 of 12 from the foul line.

Andre Miller had 18 points and seven assists, and Gerald Wallace added 16 points and nine rebounds for Portland. LaMarcus Aldridge had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Brandon Roy, who had a game-high 24 points in Game 4, had five points in 26 minutes Monday.
