Stars at Avalanche
THE STORY: The Colorado Avalanche will have revenge on their minds when they kick off their season-high eight-game homestand Friday against the Dallas Stars. Colorado is looking to pay back the Stars for a wild 7-6 overtime loss in Dallas on Nov. 4 during which it held the lead three times. Matt Duchene was the offensive star of the game as he recorded his first NHL hat trick and notched a career-best four points. Both teams have lost three straight games and were shut out in their last contest. The Stars were routed at home, 6-0, by the Florida Panthers on Tuesday while the Avalanche dropped a 1-0 decision to the Wild in Minnesota on Thursday. Dallas has won three straight meetings with Colorado but has lost six of eight at the Pepsi Center.

ABOUT THE STARS (11-6-0): Steve Ott could be back in the lineup as he was activated from injured reserve on Thursday. Ott, who has two goals and eight points in 11 games this season, has missed six games with a hip injury. To make room on the roster, Dallas placed Adam Burish on IR with a hand injury. Burish has registered three tallies and five assists in 16 contests. Tuesday's loss marked the second time this season the Stars were blanked. Dallas suffered a 1-0 loss at Los Angeles on Oct. 22.
ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (8-10-1): Colorado is just 2-6-0 at home this campaign and has lost 20 of 26 at the Pepsi Center dating to last season. The Avalanche has dropped seven of their last eight games and nine of 11. Brandon Yip made his season debut in Thursday's loss after missing the first 18 contests with a broken forearm. Yip registered three shots on goal and was on the ice for Minnesota's tally.
