ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (35-33-7):
Tampa Bay is not going quietly. The Lightning have won three straight,
including a 5-3 triumph at the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, to close
within seven points of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Steven
Stamkos notched his 53th goal for the Lightning against the Flyers,
setting a single-season franchise record. Tim Wallace has three goals
and three assists in 13 games since being claimed on waivers from the
New York Islanders. Sebastien Caron, who has not played in the NHL since
2007, could get the start in goal for the Lightning. He played in
Germany earlier this season.
ABOUT THE BRUINS (44-28-3):
Boston has settled down to win four of the last five and is getting a
bit healthier. Versatile forward Rich Peverley returned to the lineup
Sunday in Anaheim after missing 19 games with a knee injury. Goaltender
Tim Thomas has allowed only six goals the last four games – three of
them victories. Tyler Seguin leads the balanced Bruins offense with 60
points. Patrice Bergeron is next with 57 to go along with a league-best
plus-32. Brian Rolston had one assist his first nine games after being
acquired from the Islanders, but has 11 points in a six-game point
streak since.
OVERTIME:
1. The Bruins are 29-0-0
with a lead after two periods and the Lightning are tied with Pittsburgh
for the most wins when trailing after two with eight.
2. Lightning forward Martin St. Louis is two points shy of scoring at least 70 for the eighth time in nine seasons.
3. Boston leads the league in face-off percentage (54.2) and Bergeron is among the league leaders (58.5).
