Blues 5, Oilers 0
Chris Stewart tallied twice and rookie Ben Bishop turned aside all 39 shots he faced to record his first career shutout as the St. Louis Blues cruised to a 5-0 road triumph over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.
Patrik Berglund and defenseman Roman Polak collected a goal and an assist apiece and Matt D'Agostini also scored as St. Louis (28-24-9) snapped a three-game losing skid to move within five points of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference standings.
Acquired in a four-player deal with the Colorado Avalanche late Saturday night, Stewart has netted three goals with his new team and six tallies overall in as many games.
The 18th overall pick of the 2006 draft, Stewart opened the scoring just 2:07 into the contest and gave the Blues a 3-0 lead with his 19th of the season at 4:19 of the second period.
Making just his fifth career start, the 24-year-old Bishop made the offensive onslaught stand up by stopping 13 shots in the first period, nine in the second and 17 in the third to improve to 2-1-0 on the campaign.
Devan Dubnyk finished with 17 saves to suffer his fourth loss in as many career decisions against the Blues.
The setback was just the second in six outings for Edmonton (20-34-8).
