Stars 3, Sharks 2
All-Star Loui Eriksson and Jason Williams scored just over five minutes apart in the third period as the Dallas Stars snapped the San Jose Sharks' eight-game winning streak with a 3-2 triumph on Saturday.
Jamie Benn netted his third shorthanded goal of the season and added an assist for Dallas (35-23-7), which moved into a tie for sixth place with the Calgary Flames (34-24-9) in the ultra-competitive Western Conference standings.
Eriksson clenaed up a rebound to level the contest at 2-2 with 7:37 expired in the third period and Williams scored his first goal of the season by deflecting the puck off Dany Heatley's stick and into the net with 7:12 remaining in the session.
Kari Lehtonen made the slim advantage stand up and finished with 29 saves for the Stars, who have won four of their last five games.
Patrick Marleau netted his fourth goal in five games and Kyle Wellwood also tallied for Pacific Division-leading San Jose (38-22-6), which fell for just the fourth time in its last 21 outings.
Making his 21st consecutive start, Antti Niemi turned aside 25 shots in the loss.
