Coyotes 3, Flames 0
Rookie Brett MacLean snapped a scoreless tie early in the second period and Ilya Bryzgalov made 38 saves as the Phoenix Coyotes skated to a 3-0 triumph over the visiting Calgary Flames on Thursday.
Eric Belanger and captain Shane Doan also scored for the Coyotes, who improved to 7-1-1 in their last nine games at Jobing.com Arena and extended their home winning streak against the Flames to four.
MacLean got Phoenix on the board at 1:51 of the second as he beat Henrik Karlsson with a wrist shot for his first goal since scoring in his NHL debut on Dec. 29 against Los Angeles.
Belanger doubled the lead just under three minutes later, firing a shot from the right faceoff circle inside the left post at 4:49. Doan sealed the win with an empty-netter with 1:56 remaining.
Bryzgalov stopped seven shots in the first period, 19 in the second and 12 in the third for his 22nd career shutout and sixth this season.
Karlsson made 29 saves for Calgary, which had its three-game winning streak snapped and lost in regulation for just the third time in 13 contests (8-3-2).
