Avalanche 4, Blues 3
Paul Stastny scored and recorded three points and Peter Budaj made 42 saves as the visiting Colorado Avalanche snapped a 10-game losing streak by winning their seventh straight game over the St. Louis Blues, 4-3, on Tuesday night.
Former Blues defenseman Erik Johnson, David Jones and Milan Hejduk also scored for the Avalanche, who were involved in a four-player blockbuster trade with St. Louis last weekend.
Johnson snapped a 2-2 tie with just over five minutes remaining in regulation before Stastny added another 2:28 later. Andy McDonald cut the lead moments after that, but Budaj shut the door with a number of big saves late to preserve the victory.
Colorado got off to a good start when Jones scored his 20th goal 3:07 into the first period and Hejduk added his 18th midway through the session while the Avalanche were on the power play.
Patrik Berglund put St. Louis on the board just over three minutes later and Chris Stewart evened the affair on the power play with his fourth goal in as many games with the Blues after coming over in the trade.
Ty Conklin made 23 saves in the loss.
